Restlessness in Homeport
Restlessness has set in even with a major move this summer to a new homeport that is closer to the sea and to my being. Seeing her everyday has given me solace. Yet I have sat looking out over the Atlantic Ocean every morning sipping tea and dreaming of being out there upon her charting new courses and discovering new ports of call.

Todays Thoughts: A Sunday in June
This morning, a June Sunday morning, I woke to the sunrise. I headed for the beach early before the crowd would become to arrive. The tide was low, the sun was heating up already. It is going to be a hot one today. There is a slight cooling breeze off the ocean helping the beach feel comfortable at the moment.

Freedom Cruise: New York City
I haven’t been to NYC in at least 25 years. Living outside Boston we sometimes would go to NYC to visit with family. We most often stayed out on Staten Island or Long Island and would just come into Manhattan to do the sightseeing stuff. I would like to come back and indulge in the atmosphere and culture of the city beyond the normal tourist sights. It is exciting to go back even for just overnight.

The Ocean
I live on an island, no matter how good or bad the day is, I get to see the magnificent ocean. I slip into a peaceful state of relaxation where all my cares and woes drift out to sea. The ocean brings her energy to me and she revives me. My senses come alive. I see clearly. I hear the songs of the waves. I smell each scent that blows on the wind. I taste the water and the air. I feel the particles of sand on my feet and particles of water and salt on my skin.
Carnival Destiny Part 3: Ports of Call
The day at the private island on a cruise is the most wonderful relaxing day. It is like being in heaven. Once on the island, paradise awaits. A ship full of people spilling out into the island doesn’t hinder the experience. Some people head off to hike and explore, many, like us, head right to the beach area. Sitting in the tropical sun on a lounge chair. Drinks are brought to you by the waiters from the ship. The water is heavenly, calm, clear and warm. You can smell barbecue cooking and when you are ready to eat you can head over to the pavilion where the most amazing barbecue awaits with an array of foods.
Our First Cruise – Cruising in a Hurricane!
We left Boston on slightly rough seas. As the night progressed the seas got more turbulent. By morning I knew we were in for a wild ride. The ships staff were battening down the hatches. Decks were cleared. Doors were locked. We were informed by the Captain that we were in for rough seas as a hurricane had developed in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship was lunging and lurching. Walking down the halls straight was impossible.
