Todays Thoughts: A Sunday in June

This morning, a June Sunday morning, I woke to the sunrise. I headed for the beach early before the crowd would become to arrive. The tide was low, the sun was heating up already. It is going to be a hot one today. There is a slight cooling breeze off the ocean helping the beach feel comfortable at the moment.

The Ocean

I live on an island, no matter how good or bad the day is, I get to see the magnificent ocean. I slip into a peaceful state of relaxation where all my cares and woes drift out to sea. The ocean brings her energy to me and she revives me. My senses come alive. I see clearly. I hear the songs of the waves. I smell each scent that blows on the wind. I taste the water and the air. Carnival Destiny Part 3: Ports of Call

The day at the private island on a cruise is the most wonderful relaxing day. It is like being in heaven. Once on the island, paradise awaits. A ship full of people spilling out into the island doesn’t hinder the experience. Some people head off to hike and explore, many, like us, head right to the beach area. Sitting in the tropical sun on a lounge chair. Drinks are brought to you by the waiters from the ship. The water is heavenly, calm, clear and warm. You can smell barbecue cooking and when you are ready to eat you can head over to the pavilion where the most amazing barbecue awaits with an array of foods.

Carnival Destiny Part 2: Memories of Reawakened Passion

Dinner is a highlight of cruising for us. We love dressing and going to the dining room for dinner. Dinner on Carnival hasn’t changed that much since all those years ago. Dinner is wonderful. Choices are similar to those I remember. Dress is less casual even on formal nights, the formal wear for most people isn’t a long beautiful gown. A cocktail dress or nice evening dress seem to be the choice now. I remember those nights of dressing up for dinner and how fun it was. I actually like dressing up sometimes.

Introduction to Our Sister Adventures

Our first cruise on the original Carnival ship, the Mardi Gras was an adventure at sea. We encountered a hurricane roaming erratically in the Atlantic. Several cruises later we embarked on a maiden voyage of a new ship. Eventually our cruise days dwindled and real life, marriage and children took precedent. But I was ever so great for the opportunity to be at sea and go on so many wonderful cruises. The memories sustained me and I always knew one day I would return to the sea and traveling.
